Friday 11/3: Today we watched a Bill Nye video about cells (type in "Bill Nye Cells" into a google search, and the video will come up, and answered the questions attached here.
Monday 11/6: Today we watched "The Wacky History of Cell Theory" (type it into google, it's a TED ED 6:12). We then read about one of the scientists together, then the students picked one of the other scientists to read about. We filled out the information on this Cell Theory Form, then we made a "Most Wanted" poster that we will continue to work on tomorrow. We will also fill in the rest of the scientist information tomorrow.
Tuesday 11/7: Today we finished our "Most Wanted" posters. They were displayed around the room and the students went to the various posters to check information about the other scientists. We then went over the following Power Point to double check our information and make sure we had everything we needed.
Wednesday 11/8: Today we read about the Six Characteristics of Life and then did a thinking map (tree) based on these instructions (a tree map is form classifying, and has a title at the top, with the different categories under it, and then the bullet points under each of those sections (in this case, six)).
Thursday 11/9: Today the students took notes on the Types of Cells and Protists from the attached Power Point Presentations.
Monday 11/13: Today we started on our protists foldable. The pictures are here, the reading is here. You will need a 11x14 piece of paper to make the foldable (steps 1 and 2 in the instructions). I have some in my classroom if you don't have at home.
Tuesday 11/14: Today we took an open note quiz on cells, then most finished their foldable (some need to finish for homework).
Wednesday 11/15: Today we researched for our Meet and Greet Cell Conference tomorrow. Here are the instructions and here are the websites:

Thursday 11/16: Today we had our meet and greet at our cell conference where we learned about the 14 main organelles that make up plant and animal cells. Here is the power point that we looked over to make sure we had all the information we need about each organelle.
Friday-Tuesday 11/17-11/21: Cell foldable (due beginning of class 11/27).
Monday 11/27: Today we organized our binders and went over previous quizzes. We also used the following links to study for tomorrow's quiz:

Tuesday 11/28: Today we learned about Celly's trip to Cell City (an analogy). We then wrote down the analogies here. Then the student's brainstormed their own cell analogy here.
Wednesday 11/29: Today we continued to work on our cell analogies using the following rubric.
Thursday 11/30: Finished Cell Analogy
Friday 12/1: Introduced edible cell project. This is due 12/8. Students are either working on their own, or they picked their own groups. Here is the rubric.
Monday 12/4: Today we started working on stations for review. Here are the stations and here is the packet to write the information down on.
Tuesday 12/5: Today we continued with yesterday's stations.
Wednesday 12/6: Today we went over the stations to make sure the students had all the right information. Also, they can get more practice for tomorrow's test by going to the Google Classroom and doing one of the five practice quiz activities I have available for them. Students know how to log into their google classroom. Study! Tomorrow is test day!
Thursday 12/7: Today we took our cells test.
Friday 12/8: Today we explained and then ate our edible cell projects.
